Opal Neuhaus, 86

Services for Opal Valentine Neuhaus, 86 who died February 18, 1994 in Fremont were held at Zion Lutheran Church, 144th and Ida Street Monday February 21 with Rev. Merlin Reith officiating. Burial was in Flower Hill Cemetery.

Opal Valentine was born September 15, 1907 at Tilden, Nebraska. She attended rural school in Madison County and attended high school in York, Nebraska.

She graduated from York College Academy with the Class of 1924. She taught school for three years in rural Douglas County.

She married Henry J. Neuhaus February 14, 1928. They lived and farmed in Douglas County west of Benson from 1928 to 1984.

She moved to Remington Heights in July, 1985 and was a charter resident there until December 31, 1993 when she entered the hospital in Fremont.

She was baptized in the Christian faith by Rev. Westby at North-branch Lutheran Church, Closter, Nebraska in 1908. She was confirmed at Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church near Newman Grove, Nebraska in 1920.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since she married in 1928.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, who died as a result of an auto accident January 6, 1984 and four brothers.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Ivan Doll of Nickerson; her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Aleta Neuhaus of Elkhorn; four grandchildren, Nancy Hilgenkamp, Peg Pribnow, Debbie Palmer and Gary Doll and by 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Mylan G. Valentine, Castro Valley, California and Art Valentine, Clear Lake, California and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gary Doll, Dale Hilgenkamp, Mark Palmer, Steve Pribnow, Ryan Palmer and John Pribnow.
