John H. Neuman, 82

Former Herman resident John H. Neuman, 82, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his home in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

John Herman Neuman was born Dec. 31, 1921, on a farm west of Fort Calhoun to Herman and Teresa (Keegan) Neuman. He attended the Long Creek Country School.

On June 27, 1959, he married Marie Studeny in Blair.

He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, then began working for the State Departments of Roads, then for several years Kelly Ryan Manufacturing Co. He later worked for the Herman High School as a custodian, and also drove school buses for Tekamah-Herman Schools. He worked for Concrete Equipment Company in Blair for 10 years, retiring in 1983.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, woodworking and collecting. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Cathy Neuman of Fremont; John and Pam Neuman of Omaha, and Mike and Christine Neuman of Lincoln; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Scott Bokelman of Gothenburg and Lori and Jim Sperry of Elkhorn; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Don Butts, and Donna Stewart, all of Omaha, and Mary Lou and Joe Reyzlik of Blair; one brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Claudia Neuman of Gordon Bay, South Africa; sister-in-law. Patty Neuman of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and brother-in-law, George Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
