Russell P. Nelson, 66, of 961 Walnut Street, Fremont, died Saturday morning of cancer at University Hospital in Omaha.

Mr. Nelson was born July 3, 1918 in Fremont. He lived in Fremont and the area for more than four years, then lived in and farmed in Washington County for 36 years. He moved to Fremont last fall.

Mr. Nelson was a member of First Lutheran Church.

On October 22, 1941 he married the former Doris G. Nelson. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Nancy) Gutschow of Bennington; a son, Gary of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two brothers, Perry of Fremont and Shurley of Herman; three sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Priscilla) Skov of Wayne; Mrs. Allison (Marie) Hansen of Raytown, Missouri; and Mrs. Chris (Kathleen) Gutschow of Fremont; and six grandchildren.
