Easter was a sad day for two families in this neighborhood. Saturday there were two funerals. Miss Katie Neuman, about 17 years old, who came to a farm west of town with her parents about seven years ago, contracted typhoid fever while working in Omaha, died and was buried in the Fort Calhoun cemetery, Easter afternoon. Rev. Mr. Hinkleman officiating. In the afternoon Rev. Mr. Hinkleman preached in both German and English to a very large congregation over the body of “Grandma” Henig Hansen, noble wife and mother, who was born in Germany sixty-seven years ago, was married in 1871 and came with her husband to Nebraska thirty-one years ago. The pallbearers were Hans Schwager, Tim Ohrt, Joe Bolen, Asmusen, Peter Holst and Carl Miller. Among others present were Mrs. Hansen’s two brothers, Adolph Frohm, of Newton, and Henry Frohm, Davenport, Ia. Of her six children only one remains, the wife of Henig Smith.
