Lela Christine Neve, 66

Lela Christine Nielsen Neve, 66, died on October 16, 1988 at the University Hospital in Omaha.

Lela Christine Nielsen was born in Plainview, Nebraska on December 19, 1921. She spent her early childhood there and moved with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. N. P. Nielsen, to Luck, Wisconsin where she attended elementary school.

Her parents then moved to Viborg, South Dakota where she continued her education. She attended Augustana Academy at Canton, South Dakota for two years and received her high school diploma in 1939. She enrolled at Dana College in Blair and received be B. A. Degree in 1943.

For a year she worked for the National Lutheran council as a social worker in Charleston, South Carolina.

In 1944 she was united in marriage to Paul Neve and they made their home in Blair except for a year and a half when the family resided in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Lela was active in the community and in the church. She served on the Library Board and the School Board. She was president when the High School was built. She has been active at First Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council, as president of the Church Women and on numerous other committees.

For many years she has been a Secretary at Dana College working in the Humanities Department and in the Library.

She is survived by her husband Paul, by four children, Leon of St Paul, Ms; Lois Carter of Shreveport, La; Loyd of Omaha, Nebraska and Lori Jones of Shreveport.

Three sisters, Dagmar Knudsen of Lincoln; Lydia Stave of Blair; and Vera Mae Dodge of Redwood Falls, Mn.; and by three brothers, Adolph of Cedar Falls, Ia.; Lavern of Elk Horn, Ia.; and Carl of Montrose, S. D.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Dana College or to the First Lutheran Church.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Campbell Funeral Home in Blair.

She attended Augustana Academy at Canton, South Dakota for two years and received her high school diploma in 1939. She enrolled at Dana College in Blair and received be B. A. Degree in 1943.

She is survived by her husband Paul, by four children, Leon of St Paul, Minnesota; Lois Carter of Shreveport, Louisiana; Loyd of Omaha, Nebraska and Lori Jones of Shreveport, Louisiana, and nine grandchildren.

Three sisters, Dagmar Knudsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; Lydia Stave of Blair, Nebraska and Vera Mae Dodge of Redwood Falls, Minnesota and by three brothers, Adolph of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Lavern of Elk Horn, Iowa and Carl of Montrose, South Dakota.

The family wishes to thank you for your many kind remembrances and they invite you to fellowship with them in the Fellowship Hall of the parish immediately following the Interment Service.
