Services for Lee B. Newell, 61 of Omaha, who died March 5, 1996 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a lengthy illness will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Lee B. Newell was born April 21, 1934 in Blair to Donald and Frances Bross Newell. He graduated from Blair High School in 1952.

He served in the military during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1959 with a degree in geological engineering.

His career took him to many places throughout the world and he lived in the Middle East for 15 years, living in several different countries. He also lived in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado before his retirement in 1992, at which time he moved to Omaha.

He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

He is survived by his wife, Ila Jean of Omaha; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Harold Williamsen of Blair; his mother, Frances Sprecher of Blair; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Roma and Duane Lasher of Blair; four nephews and two nieces.

Memorials may be directed to the Methodist Home Health Hospice in Omaha.
