Fort Calhoun Woman Dead

Mrs. Howard Beales, 47, Dies after Short Illness; Funeral Sunday

Ill only a week, Mrs. J. Howard Beales, 47, for many for many years a Fort Calhoun resident, died last Thursday at the family home.

Funeral services, with arrangements in charge of the Sievers Funeral Home, where held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church with burial following in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

The Rev. Paul Iverson of Plattsmouth, her nephew officiated at the service. Members of the Eastern Stars, of which Mrs. Beales was an active member and former past matron, had graveside rituals.

Ella Catherine Schumacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank. Schumacher was born April 27, 1894, at Osmond, Nebraska. The family later moved to Coffman (Nashville), and then to Fort Calhoun. She was graduated from high school there in 1911, and then taught school three years before her marriage May 18, 1914, to Mr. Beales.

Mrs. Beales is survived by her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Ted Genoway of Big Rock, Illinois, and Hannah, Catherine, Elizabeth and Ellen Ann, all at home; and two sons, Austin and John, both at home. One son died at birth. Also surviving Mrs. Beales are two brothers, Frank Schumacher of Duluth, Minnesota, and Hans Schumacher of Mankato, Minnesota; and two sisters, Mrs. H.T. Ring of Hooper, and Mrs. Emory Iverson of Plattsmouth.
