MRS. H. BEALES PASSES AWAY MON.

Mrs. Hannah Beales of Fort Calhoun, passed away at her home Monday afternoon at the age of 94. “Grandma” Beales was well known and loved in Fort Calhoun, and will be sadly missed by all her hosts of friends and relatives.

A short time ago she slipped and fell, breaking her hip, and later contracted pneumonia. A complete obituary will follow next week.

Mrs. Hannah Beales, Believed Oldest Living Countian

Mrs. Hannah Beales, 94, pioneer Nebraskan and resident of the Ft. Calhoun vicinity since 1868, died at her farm home east of Fort Calhoun on Monday, Jan. 3rd, in less than two weeks. Mrs. Beales had been bedfast since December 23 when she suffered a broken leg.

Mrs. Beales believed to be Washington County’s oldest resident, was born at Springfield, Ohio, February 23, 1849. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1857, living at Florence for a number of years before coming to Washington County.

She was married to Austin W. Beales on April 23, 1868.

The couple resided west of Fort Calhoun until 1886. In that year they moved to the farm east of Fort Calhoun where Mrs. Beales lived until her death. Mr. Beales died January 20, 1912.

Surviving are two daughters, Catherine C. Beales and Mrs. Fred Frahm, and a son, J, Howard, all of Ft. Calhoun; also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two daughters died in infancy and a son, Parke, preceded his mother in death in July, 1925.

Funeral rites are to be held today (Thursday) at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.

LIVED IN CALHOUN VICINITY 76 YEARS

Hannah M. Hall was born February 23, 1849 at Springfield, Ohio. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1857, living at Florence, Nebraska until she was married to Austin W. Beales on April 21st, 1868. They lived on a farm west of Calhoun until 1886.

In that year they moved onto a farm east of Fort Calhoun where Mrs. Beales lived until her death at the age of 95 years on January 3, 1944.

Mrs. Beales was preceded in death by her husband who died January 20, 1912; two daughters who died in infancy and a son, Parke J., who died July 7, 1925. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters and a son - Miss Catharine C. Beales, Mrs. Sadie C. Frahm and J. Howard. Also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, January 6, at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
