J. Howard Beales Dies at Age of 80

. Mr. J. Howard Beales age 80, died in a hospital in Miami, Florida Tuesday, February 7, where he had been confined for the past two weeks. He went to Florida early in December to visit his son John.

Mr. Beales was born June 18, 1886 to Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Beales on a farm which is the site of Fort Atkinson. This was his home during his whole life.

He was married to Ella Shumaker and they were the parents of five daughters and two sons. Mrs. Beales died in April of 1942.

Survivors are Mrs. T. T. Genoways (Sarah) and Mrs. Lynn Genoways (Hannah), both of Bayard, Nebraska; Mrs. James Kanaley (Ella Ann) and Miss Catherine Beales of Ft. Calhoun and Mrs. Daias Coffin (Elizabeth) of Oakdale, Washington, Austin Bales of Thailand and John Beales of Miami, Florida. Also a sister, Mrs. Sade Frahm, of Ft. Calhoun, 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beales was a carpenter by trade, but retired about seven years ago. He was a Past Master of the Solomon Lodge No. 10 of the Masonic Order and a 50- year member. He received the Jordan Medal for being the oldest member of the Soloman Lodge.

Funeral services will be at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th, The Rev. Keith Sackett will officiate.

The Sievers Mortuary is in charge, and burial will be in the Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.

Masonic rites will take place at the graveside and pallbearers will be Masonic brothers: Henry Rasmussen, C. B. Neumann, Clarence Doty, Alvin Ohrt, Walter Ohrt and Wm. Suverkrubbe.
