Austin R. Beales, 83, Died Sunday

Austin R. Beales, a pioneer of Washington County, farmer and livestock feeder, died Sunday night at the Blair Hospital following an illness of three months. He was 83. He was born in Washington County March 23, 1882.

He was active in the organization of the Blair Rural Fire Department, and was president of that organization at the time of his death.

In 1961 Mr. Beales was honored by the Omaha Livestock Association for being a 50-year shipper to the Omaha yards.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, the Masonic Lodge, a former city councilman of Blair, and presently on the school board of Bono district 44.

Survivors include his wife. Addie; a son, Austin B., of Saratoga, Wyoming: two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Williams of Wahoo and Mrs. Jane Gaughan of Lincoln; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, William, of Blair; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Gates of California.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, May 4, the Reverend William Shattuck officiating. Pallbearers were: B. F. Lundt, Ned Tyson, Ralph Kuhr, Falke Clausen, William Tripp and Dennis Allard.

Interment, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was in the Blair Cemetery.
