Catharine Comly Beales, 84

Catharine Comly Beales, 84, of Fort Calhoun, died May 9, 2002, in Blair.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Inurnment will be at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Catharine Comly Beales was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Fort Calhoun to John and Ella (Schumacher) Beales. She was born and raised in a home located on the Fort Atkinson site. Except for a short teaching assignment in western Nebraska, she lived her entire life in Fort Calhoun.

She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter No. 121 in Fort Calhoun. Her hobbies were sewing and reading. She will bemost remembered for her love of children and family.

She is survived by a brother, John Beales of Fort Calhoun; sisters, Sarah Genoways of Lincoln, Hannah Genoways of Fort Calhoun, Elizabeth Coffin of Moses Lake, Wash.; 20 nieces and nephews, and great and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored and all whom have many special memories of “Auntie Ca.”

She was preceded in death by a brother, Austin Beales, and sister, Ellen Anne Hawkins Kanaley.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
