Charles Beaver, 63

Charles H. Beaver, 63, of Tekamah died August 20, 1990, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Charles was born August 3, 1927, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Charles and Helen (Lester) Beaver. At a young age, he and his family moved to Valley, and he attended school in Fremont and Elkhorn.

For a number of years he lived at the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.

He served in the Navy Sea Bees during World War II, and was a long-time resident of Valley and a Valmont employee.

Charles was a member of the King Lake VFW, where he was a Past Commander and a charter member. For the past 23 years, he resided at his river home northeast of Tekamah.

Survivors include daughter Diane Sorenson of Ocean Park, Washington; son Michael of Kearney; mother Helen Beaver of Tekamah; sister, Nita Farnam of Mission, Texas; two brothers, Darrell of Valley and Terry of Tekamah, and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; son Jerry; one grandson, and one sister, Dolly.

Military honors were conducted at the graveside by the Tekamah VFW.

Funeral services were held at Hamel and Peck Funeral Home August 23 with the Rev. Charles Bailey officiating.

Casket bearers were Don Thomas, Mel Becker, Clark Lipps, Chuck Fleming, Jim Vanroy, Jim Lawson, Jim Becker, Lonnie Eliot and Larry Jackson.

Burial was at the Tekamah Cemetery.
