Ruthene Ann Smith, 71

Ruthene Ann Smith, 71, of Blair, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Memorial Community Hospital.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Ruthene Ann Smith was born July 18, 1928, to Leo and Anna (Petersen) Hugelman in Herman. She attended school in Herman, graduating from Herman High School in 1945.

On August 21, 1946, she married Henry (Sonny) Smith in Blair. Since their marriage, they have lived in Blair.

She worked at the Blair Credit Union and Equitable Savings and Loan until her retirement in 1989.

She is survived by her husband, Sonny; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Laura Smith; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Glenn Nelsen and Jeanie and Don Bock, all of Blair; seven grandchildren, Scott, Jeff and Brett Nelsen, Jennifer and Jessica Bock, and Amanda and Brittney Smith; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn and Bernice Spiker; and four brothers, Leo, Howard, Bill and Kenny Hugelman.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ruthene passed away on Saturday afternoon, November 13, 1999 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Herman, Nebraska, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Petersen) Hugelman. Ruthene was 71 years old.

Funeral Service 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 17, 1999 Trinity Lutheran Church, Blair, Nebraska. Presiding: Rev. John Emslie, Pastor. Organist: Patty Gammel. Vocalist: Susan Rogers. Vocal Selection: “Old Rugged Cross”. Special Recording: "Go Rest High On That Mountain".
