Susan M. Smith, 65

Susan M. Smith, 65, of Blair, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, Iowa. Interment was at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Susan Mary Feldkamp was born on April 26, 1942, in Cloverdale, Iowa, to Harold and Pauline (Jarrott) Feldkamp. She lived her youth in Cloverdale and attended school in Aston, Iowa, and Sibley, Iowa. She graduated from Sibley High School.

On Oct. 28, 1961, she married Joseph “Joe” D. Smith of Sibley, Iowa, in Canton, S.D. They lived in Sibley until 1968, when they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. In February of 1969, they moved to Grapevine, Texas, and in 1972, they moved to Blair, where they continued to live.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Country Bible Church in Blair. She received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was a young girl and she maintained a strong, unwavering faith throughout her life.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband and the family. She was always there for her children and grandchildren. She taught them the value of family relationships. She was straightforward in her words and actions and that is how she perceived life. She had a good sense of humor and enjoyed outdoor sports and bowling. She was a loyal Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Smith of Blair; three sons and daughters-in-law: Jed and Shawn Smith, Nathan and Cyndi Smith, and Michael Smith, all of Blair; eight grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jarrott and Donna Feldkamp of Lewisville, Texas, Michael and Pat Feldkamp of Rowlett, Texas, and Monte and Karen Feldkamp of Sibley, Iowa; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and twin infant brothers.
