Services Are on Tuesday For Tim Smith

Services were held Tuesday, September 20, at Covenant Church in Omaha for Tom (Tim) Smith who was killed September 16, 1983, in a head on collision south of Plattsmouth.

The accident occurred when a car driven by Charles Rowe of Blair allegedly crossed the center line and hit Smith’s car on the shoulder on the road on Smith’s side of the road.

Tim Smith was born September 25, 1961, in Omaha to Fred and Gloria Smith. He attended Boyd School in Omaha, moving to Blair with his family as a third grader. He graduated from Blair High School in 1979. He was baptized and confirmed in the Covenant Church in Omaha. He was also a member of the church.

He married Ronda Kyker of Omaha on June 5, 1982.

He worked as a boat mechanic at Steinbaugh’s in Blair.

During his 21 years, he had won many first place honors in power lifting at the local, regional and national levels. He held many power lifting records, including the national record in four different categories at his weight level.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Smith; one brother, James; and one sister, Susan, all of Blair. Grandparents Edna Smith of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. James Childress, Carter Lake, Iowa, also survive him.

Memorials may be given to the Kidney Foundation.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church for Tim (Tom A.) Smith, 21, of Blair, who died in an automobile accident near Union, Nebraska, September 16, 1983. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Smith; one brother, James; and one sister, Susan, all of Blair. Grandparents Edna Smith of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. James Childress, Carter Lake, Iowa, also survive him.

Memorials may be given to the Kidney Foundation.
