Fred Bloemer, 84, of Blair, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at 4:40 in the morning.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair. Visitation is Thursday at St. Francis Borgia from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Fred was born Nov. 30, 1929.

He married Eva Jones on Sept. 29, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Omaha.

He served as a clerk in the Marines during the Korean War.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with his extended family.

He is survived by his children: Michael and his wife, Vonda, (Warner Robins, Ga.), daughter Shari (Minneapolis, Minn.); and son David (Blair); and grandchildren Caitlin and Ryan Bloemer (Warner Robins).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; his parents, Emil and Johanna Bloemer; his granddaughter, Cassandra Bloemer; sister Henrietta Melies; brother-in-law Kenny Melies Sr.; and cousin Kenny Melies Jr.
