Former Countian Dies Saturday In Fremont

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Fremont Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for Mrs. Sarah Newkirk, of Fremont and formerly of Washington County, who died Saturday, March 14, at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.

Rev. Eddie Masters will conduct the services. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Sarah Newkirk was born on June 12, 1904, in Arlington to Chris and Zetta Neff Rasmussen. She married Merle S. Newkirk on June 30, 1926, in Fremont and lived in the Spiker area until moving to Fremont in 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Fremont.

She is survived by her husband, Merle; one son, Robert Newkirk, Fremont; and two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Mary Kay) Dimmitt, Fremont, and Mrs. Bill (Francis) Johnson, Blair. One sister, Mrs. Pearl Cornelius, Omaha; one brother, Harold W. Rasmussen, Blair; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren survive her.

Memorials may be given to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements for the services.
