Newton, G. W.

Last Friday Drs. Robinson, Langstaff and Bedal performed an operation of G. W. Newton, taking his left leg off just below the knee. It was only a chance that this might avert the spread of the gangrene, but his condition did not improve and death came at 4 o’clock Wednesday morning as a result of blood poisoning. The funeral will be held at 4 o’clock this afternoon at the house. Rev. J. L. Vallow officiating. Mr. Newton was but 50 years of age and it is sad indeed to be thus summarily cut off in the prime of life and in the midst of a successful business career. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn the loss of husband and father. They have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad bereavement.

Note: Since the actual death date was not given, the news article date was used. He is buried in Blair Cemetery Bk 55, Lot 31, Sp 6; there is no death date on the cemetery record.
