Nibbe, Anna (Winken)

Death of Mrs. John Nibbe

Mrs. John Nivve died at her home on Ellsworth Street, last Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock, after a year’s illness. The funeral was held Monday forenoon from the German M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. J. Mueller. The church was filled with sorrowing friends and neighbors of the deceased lady, who gathered to pay their last sad duty to the dead. Interment in Arlington cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Winken Nibbe was born in Elmshorn, Germany, July 2, 1875, being nearly 38 years at the time of her death. With her husband and family she came to the United States in 1904, living a year in Omaha before coming to Arlington, where Mr. Nibbe has been foreman in A. G. Ludwig’s planing mill ever since coming here. They early united in with the German M. E. church here and identified themselves with the general work of that organization. About a year ago Mrs. Nibbe was stricken with tuberculosis, and in spite of all that could be done for her, the angel of death entered the home and wafted her spirit to its heavenly home. She leaves a husband, five children and a sister, Mrs. C. Voss, who resides here. Her father and two sisters, who reside in Germany, also survive her.

Mrs. Voss and her husband had intended to return to Germany this spring, but since the death of Mrs. Nibbe they have decided to remain here, they feeling it to be their duty to look after the small children left behind, therefore they have postponed their anticipated departure until a later date.
