Former Arlington Man Killed In Truck Accident

A 30 year old Fremont man was killed early Thursday when the pickup truck he was driving went out of control and struck a guide rail.

Services for Loran Eugene Nichols, 1130 N. Morrell Street, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Methodist Church with Rev. Graydon Wilson officiating.

Mr. Nichols, a refrigerator salesman and service man, died when his truck went out of control near the junction of Hwys. 77 and 109, south of the city.

Investigating officers said Mr. Nichols was thrown from the vehicle after it went over a 25 foot embankment and he was pinned beneath the wreckage.

Mr. Nichols was born in Fremont, May 4, 1936. He lived as a child with his parents on a farm near Arlington; attended rural school and graduated from Arlington High School.

He attended an Omaha trade school and studied refrigeration repair and sales. He operated his own business here.

A member of the Methodist Church, he was married to Jan ___arsby, April 19, 1959 in Woodbine, Iowa.

Following his marriage he lived in Omaha two years; then moved to Arlington and later moved to Fremont.

He is survived by his widow, a son Kiven, both of home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William P. Nichols, Fremont; a brother, Roger, Fremont; and one sister, Mrs. Dominic Gross, Omaha.

Interment was at Elk City.
