Ft. Calhoun Chronicle 10 May 1917

Just as we go to press word was received that Louis Lorsch, Sr., dropped dead, presumably from heart trouble, at about 11 a.m. He had driven to the home of his son Fritz, just west of town, and was walking in the field when the fatal stroke came. The chronicle will publish an obituary next week.

Ft. Calhoun Chronicle 17 May 1917

Louis Lorsch, Sr.

Louis Lorsch, Sr., who died suddenly from heart failure at the home of his son Fritz, on May 10, was born in Bromburg, Germany, Oct. 12, 1841, being 75 years, 6 months and 28 days old at the time of his death. He came to America in 1867, and was married in Illinois Oct. 2, 1870, to Wilhelmina Mageskie. From there they came to Nebraska in 1880, living in Omaha for several years and later removing to this vicinity, where he has since resided. Surviving him are his wife and eight children: William of near Florence, Mrs. William Wallesen of Raymond, Wash., Mrs. Augusta Craig of Ericson, Neb., Louis, Fritz, John, Carl and Mrs. August Klassen of this vicinity. He also leaves twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Lorsch was a highly respected citizen, upright and industrious, and his sudden demise while apparently in his usual robust health, was a shock to the community.

A large number of friends attended the funeral services, which were conducted from the residence Saturday afternoon by Rev. Grahn of Ponca Hill. Interment was in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.
