Ellen M. Smith Rites Held Today

Sister of James P. Mullin Died In Kansas City Last Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen M. Smith, who was born in the New England neighborhood, November 9, 1882, were held this (Thursday) morning from S. Francis Borgia Catholic church, with the pastor, Father George F. Jonaitis, officiating. Burial was in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Friday evening, March 10, in Kansas City, Missouri, where she had lived a number of years. She was a sister of James P. Mullin, who lives south of town. Also surviving her are a brother, Thomas J. Mullin of Belvidere, South Dakota, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Couch and Rose Mullin both of Los Angeles. Also surviving is her aged father, Pat Mullin.

The deceased received her early education in the New England school and later was enrolled in school at Tekamah. She then transferred to the Blair schools and in young womanhood went to Omaha with her other sisters. Later, she went to Kansas City, where she remained until her death.

Mrs. Smith had been ailing nearly two years and for the past year her health had been seriously impaired. She is remembered by a number of Blair residents who knew her in girlhood and who met her at the time of her visits here, the last at the time of her mother’s death, about seven years ago.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Mullin Smith were held Thursday morning, March 16th, from St. Francis Catholic Church in Blair, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, March 10th, in Kansas City, Missouri where she has lived for a number of years. She was born in the New England neighborhood, this county, November 9, 1882 where she grew to womanhood She received her education in the New England school, Tekamah and Blair.

She is survived by her father, Patrick Mullin, two brothers, James P. of Blair and Thomas J. of Belvidere, South Dakota and two sisters, Miss Rose Mullin and Mrs. Mark Couch of Los Angeles, California.
