Miss Elsie Thone was born May 5, 1870, and died June 20, 1926, being 56 years one month and fourteen days at the time of her death. She was married to Martin Johnson on January 18, 1891. To this union four children were born, one dying in infancy Mrs. Johnson had been in poor health for several years and all that loving hands could do was done for her. She was born and raised on the farm about five miles southwest of Herman where she died, having lived there her entire life. She was a good wife and mother and will be greatly missed in the neighborhood where she was always ready to give assistance to those in need. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and three children, Lloyd, Merle and Mrs. Mabel Iversen, also four grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. T. Reese of the Herman Baptist church last Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the family home and the body was laid to rest in the Thone cemetery. The community extends its sympathy to the family in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. Martin Johnson died at her home in Grant Township Sunday morning June 20, 1926 at 10 o’clock after a lingering illness. The funeral was held at the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. T. J. Reese, pastor of the Herman Baptist Church being in charge. Interment was made in the Thone Cemetery. Elsie C. Thone was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew G. Thone. She was born May 5, 1870 in Grant Township and died June 20, 1926 making her age 56 years, 1 month and 15 days. The spot where she was born was just a short distance form the home where she died. Her whole life was spent in the same community. In January 18, 1891 she was married to Martin Johnson. To this union four children were born, Lloyl G., Arthur Merrill, Mrs. T. K. Iverson and one child who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband and children and four grandchildren, also three brothers and three half sisters, none of whom are living in Nebraska. The deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran Church while just a girl. Mrs. Johnson had suffered from pulmonary trouble for several years and for the past three or four months had been confined to her bed. She was a faithful wife, a kind, loving mother, and a good neighbor, one loved and respected by all her knew her. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of Herman and vicinity in their hour of sorrow.
