Resident 67 Years is Dead

MRS. PAULINA NIELSEN DIED IN FREMONT, APRIL 7; WAS WELL-KNOWN HERE

Mrs. Paulina Brodersen Nielsen, a resident of Herman and Blair for nearly 70 years, died Friday, April 7, after a month’s illness. Aged 79 years at the time of her death, Mrs. Nielsen passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Francis Christiansen of Fremont, formerly of Blair.

Funeral services were held from Bendorf Funeral Home April 9, with the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen, Lutheran minister, officiating. Burial was in the Thone cemetery near Herman.

Born June 29, 1864, Mrs. Nielsen spent her girlhood in her native Schlesvig Holstein, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed a Danish Lutheran before she left the old country. She came to the United States May 12, 1880.

On July 1, 1884, Anna Paulina Brodersen was married to Niels Nielsen. Five children were born to them, the youngest, Paul, dying in 1934. Mr. Nielsen also preceded her in death, in 1903.

Mrs. Nielsen is survived by her four children; Mrs. Fred R. Hansen of Herman, Mrs. Francis Christiansen of Fremont, Chris of Plentywood, Mont., and Herman of Longview, Wash.; also seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. M.G. Cook of Fremont.
