Dennis Nielsen, 50

Funeral services for Dennis “Buckshot” Nielsen, 50, of Kennard, were held Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Trinity Interdenominational Church in Omaha. Interment was at the Kennard Cemetery. Mr. Nielsen died at his home on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000.

Dennis Nielsen was born June 15, 1950, in Blair to Louis and Maxine (Voss) Nielsen. He lived his entire life in Kennard. He attended Kennard schools through the eighth grade, and continued his education in Blair, graduating from Blair High School in 1968.

On July 25, 1981, he married Roxanne Rosenbaum at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard.

Mr. Nielsen was employed at Valmont Industries for more than 24 years, when he retired due to a work-related injury. He continued to be supportive and instrumental in his family’s involvement in their school and 4-H activities, in addition to continuing his love of watching and attending NASCAR races and working on and showing his old cars. His support from his friends kept him motivated in his battle against cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne; children, Brian, Kylee and Bryce of Kennard, Denise of Lincoln, and Niki of Arlington; parents, Louis and Maxine Nielsen, Kennard; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Darrel Timperley, Norfolk; nieces, Amy, Abby, and Ann Allen, Brooke Jenny; nephew, A.J. Allen; aunts and uncles, Sheldon and Jennylou Warrick of Blair, Clarence and Viola Schneckloth of Fremont, Irene Schmidt of Blair, Ann Knudsen of La Vista, special friend, Viona Schlotfeld of Kennard, cousins and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Muriel (Stricklett) Nielsen, and Otto and Margaret (Wiese) Voss.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Note: Dennis is buried in Blk 7 Lot 6 Sp 5 in the Kennard Cemetery
