William Nickels, 85

William Nickels, 85, of Omaha, died Sept. 14, 2004, at the Veterans Home in Omaha. Memorial services are pending.

William “Bill” Nickels was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Omaha to William F. and Elsie (Abels) Nickels.

Mr. Nickels was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Panama Canal.

On April 6, 1940, he married Eleanor B. Nickels. The couple later divorced.

Mr. Nickels was the former owner of Nickels Machine Shop in Bennington and Omaha. He was a tool and die make all his life. He loved to fish and hunt. He also owned the Florence Gun Shop.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Cahoon of Kennard; son, John Nickels of Vado, N.M; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
