Marjorie Grace Christensen, 83, of Blair, died Friday, 1/16/1998, at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Mrs. Christensen was born March 1, 1914, in rural Blair to Peter and Irene (Vaughan) Jansen. She received her elementary education and the Maney and Wranch Schools and graduated from Blair High School. After attending Wayne State College, she taught at the LaCrone and Sunnyside schools in rural Washington County. On March 21, 1937, she married Russell E. Christensen at Kennard. They farmed southwest of Fort Calhoun until their retirement in 1979, at which time they moved to Blair.

While on the farm, she was an active member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. She co-organized the Better Homes Extension Club in her community in 1950. After moving to Blair, she became a member of First Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer for many years in the church office and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. She moved to Johansen Manor in October 1997.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Susie Christensen, Blair, and Dean and Sylvia Christensen, Lincoln, Neb.; one daughter, Carol Cantey, Cerritos, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Russell Christensen, Rodney Christensen, Rolie Christensen, Jill Christensen, Chad Christensen, Sara Christensen, Ronda Van Derslice, Elizabeth Cantey and Mark Cantey; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Naomi Mathiesen, Blair; and one brother, Peter Jansen, Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in August 1984; and one sister Jessie Stewart.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
