Neils P. Christensen, 81, of Kennard, died Feb. 22, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Neils P. Christensen was born Aug. 4, 1918, to Louis and Maita (Hansen) Christensen northeast of Irvington. He attended grade school in District 63 in Douglas County. He was confirmed at Kountz Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha at age 14. He served in the 4th Armored Division during World War II, and was proud to have been one of General Patton’s boys. He was discharged in October of 1946.

On March 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruth Nielsen of Kennard. The couple farmed for five years northwest of Irvington, then moved to Ruth’s home in Kennard. They lived there at the time of his death.

He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, Kennard American Legion, Arlington VFW and a past member of John S. Bowen Masonic Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son-in-law, Claudia Martin of Omaha; Pam and Kevin Hindley of Blair; and Connie Sheets of Blair; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry of Kennard, Daniel of Omaha, and Mark and Maggie of Fremont; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Sorensen of Wagner, S.D.

Memorials are suggested to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Prairie View Cemetery.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
