ELEANOR BUCHARDT, 75

Eleanor Buchardt, 75, of Blair, died April 26, 2007.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 29, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eleanor Schlote was born April 9, 1932, in Craig to Elhardt and Myrtle Schlote. She graduated from Fremont High School.

She married Norman Buchardt; the couple was married for more than 54 years, residing in the Blair area.

After her three children were raised, her determination to achieve a college education was fulfilled at the age of 64, when she received a bachelor of science degree, with honors, in social work from Dana College.

She was an award-winning baker, enjoyed crafts, knitting, cross-stitching, bowling, playing cards with her family, antiques and refinishing.

Mrs. Buchardt taught Sunday School for more than 47 years at First Lutheran Church and enjoyed watching her students grow in their faith. She worked on the election committee for more than 25 years; worked for nine years at the MCH Auxiliary Closet; was a Stephen Minister and did respite care training.

Always giving to her family and friends, her children regard their mother as the most amazing role model any child could ask for. Her family could always count on her for support. She not only guided and cared for her own children, but also developed a special relationship with each of her five grandchildren.

Mrs. Buchardt fought a courageous battle against lung cancer and brain cancer, never allowing the disease to dampen her inspiring spirit or keep her from spending time with her family. Her concern for other people shined through her entire life.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Bill and Patty Buchardt, Jacque and Edwin Belles, and Edward and LuAnn Buchardt, all of Blair; five grandchildren and their families; one great-grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and John Wolsmann and Karolyn VanBeek of Blair, Jean Johnson of Tekamah; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Estelle Schlote of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmidt of Omaha; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; an infant brother, Dean Schlote; and a special aunt, Marie Nielsen.

Memorials are suggested to the Washington County American Cancer Society, First Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
