Funeral services for Hazel Christiansen, 83, of Kennard, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, at Emmaus Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Christiansen died on Monday, July 10, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

Hazel Mae Christiansen was born on March 26, 1917, at Kennard. She was the daughter of Fritz and Mary (Schmidt) Jahnel. She was baptized and confirmed at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. She attended the Sunnyside School in rural Kennard, and graduated from Kennard High School.

She was untied in marriage to Walter P. Christiansen. They farmed near Yutan for 12 years prior to moving to Kennard.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Steve Sibbernsen of Bennington; Renee and Mike Kimball of Fremont; four grandchildren, Penny Vogt, Mike Sibbernsen, Leigh and David Kimball; two great grand-daughters; a brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Ruth Jahnel of Tekamah; a brother, Robert Jahnel of Blair; two sisters-in-law, Trina Allison and Marie Desler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and two brothers, Harry and Ray Jahnel.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
