Judith O. Christiansen, 61, of Tekamah died suddenly at her Tekamah home early on Saturday morning, July 4, 1987.

She was born on August 15, 1925, at Tekamah to Aimee (Mayden) and Jasper Allen Johnson. She graduated from Tekamah High School in 1942, and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln in 1946.

She taught Second Grade at Lincoln and Ames, Iowa, for a number of years, and also worked as a bookkeeper for Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa. In later years, she worked as a nurse’s aide for the Tekamah Senior Citizens Home and was a daycare provider from her home.

She was married to Robert Christiansen on August 10, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Tekamah, where she was a member.

She was also a member of the Silver Creek Women’s Club, the Order of Eastern Star and Phi Mu Sorority at Wesleyan College, and had attained eligibility for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Christiansen was very active in the Methodist Women’s Circle, the Methodist Choir, and was active in the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Tekamah; four daughters: Nancy Schuldt of Seattle, Washington, Mary Slaughter and Diana Christiansen of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lois Olson of Tekamah; six grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Paul Johnson of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, 1987, at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah with the Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
