K. V. “Whitey” Christiansen, the son of Victor and Dagmar Damsgaard Christiansen, was born March 14, 1911, at Coulter, Iowa, and died February 7, 1988 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 76 years.

He was baptized at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa, and confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado.

He attended school in Audubon, Iowa, and attended North High School in Denver, Colorado.

He worked for several years at different jobs until he began working for the Public Service Company of Colorado.

On September 11, 1941, he was united in marriage to Alice Jensen in Audubon, Iowa. They lived in the Denver area until he enlisted in the U. S. Army on September 3, 1943.

During his tour of duty, he served in the southwest Pacific. He was discharged on November 3, 1945, and returned to Denver and worked for the Public Service Company until they moved to Audubon in 1948, where he was employed at Jensen Motor Company.

In 1951, he became the Executive Secretary for the Audubon Chamber of Commerce until 1962, and then worked for the Estherville, Iowa Chamber of Commerce in the same capacity until 1966.

They returned to Audubon, and he worked for Lang’s Furniture until 1969, when he opened the Sears Catalog Store and operated it until he retired in 1978.

He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Audubon and active in the church choir and a member of Audubon Post No. 120, American Legion, Audubon, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Everett Christiansen.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Christiansen, of Audubon; his children and their spouses: Jeanette and Rev. Darrell Gerrietts of Tripoli, Iowa; Ken and Dianne Christiansen of Atlantic, Iowa; and Dr. Keith and Rosalee Christiansen of Blair; ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Anne, Daniel and Christa Gerrietts, all of Tripoli, Iowa; Aaron, Sarah and Nathan Christiansen, all of Atlantic, Iowa; Jay, Marie and Luke Christiansen, all of Blair; nieces and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastors Joan Mau and Harris Hostager on Wednesday, February 10, 1988 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

The Graveside Flag Presentation was conducted by the Audubon Post No. 120, American Legion, Audubon.

The casket bearers were: Charles Kauffman, Clark Kauffman, Neil D. Kauffman, Larry Kleckner, Cloy Kneeskern, and Stephen May.
