Martha Christiansen, wife Niels Christiansen, was born Nov. 6, 1845, at Snode Longland, Denmark, died in Blair, Nebraska, Dec. 29, 1912, aged 67 years, 1 month and 23 days.

She was married to Niels Christiansen in 1866 in Chicago, Ill., came to Omaha the following year, later moving to the farm ten miles northwest of Blair where she resided until two years ago when the family moved to Blair locating on the west Lincoln Street.

For the past five years the deceased suffered from cancer of the stomach. She leaves a husband, twelve children and forty-three grandchildren. The six sons and six daughters are W. Henry, Lawrence, Fred, George, Chris, Walter, Nellie, Gertie, Lucy, Nora, Stella and Frances, all of whom are living and married in Nebraska.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday forenoon at 10:30 and later in the day at Orum where interment was made. Rev. Wein officiating.

DIED- Martha Christiansen, wife of Niels Christiansen, at the family home on West Lincoln Street in this city. Funeral services were held at the home at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday and in the church Orum. Rev. Wein, of Orum, conducting the services. Interment in the Orum Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen were early settlers in Washington County living in their farm near Orum till two years ago when they moved to Blair. They were highly respected and amongst the best citizens of the county. Beside her husband and many friends she leaves twelve children, six sons and six daughters to mourn her death.
