MRS. CHRISTIANSEN RITES THURSDAY

Mrs. Petrine Christiansen died at the home of her son, Anton of Kennard on June 14th, 1948. She was born in Denmark April 27th 1860, and was at her death 88 years, 1 month and 17 days old.

She was married to Peter Christiansen and came to America in 1884. They resided for two years in Omaha before they came to Washington county. Here they made their home on a farm where the husband died in 1920.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen, four sons and two daughters. One son, Jens, died in March of 1947 and one daughter died in infancy.

One daughter, Mrs. Mary Nielsen, and three sons, Chris, Andrew and Anton, all reside in Kennard. Besides these there are ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of friends, all of whom will mourn her passing.

To have lived for more than 88 years and to have reared a family, all of whom are good citizens, and to have lived a life free from blame and criticism as did Mrs. Christiansen is an example that is well worthy of emulation.

The funeral was held from the Washington community church on Thursday, June 17, with Rev. Thorslev of Kennard officiating, and interment was made under the supervision of the Bendorf Funeral Home in Prairie View Cemetery.

The pallbearers were six grandsons, Walter, Vernon, LaVerne, Merle and Calvin Christiansen and Nels Christiansen.
