SERVICES HELD FOR VERNON CHRISTIANSEN

Services were held Tuesday, January 3, at First Methodist Church in Kennard for Vernon James Christiansen, 60, who died December 31, 1983, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

The Rev. Shirley Sklenar officiated. Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery.

Vernon James Christiansen was born in Kennard on February 3, 1923, to Jens and Inger Andersen Christiansen. He attended school in Kennard and graduated from Kennard High School.

He retired from the farm and for the last six years had worked for Blair Manufacturing. He was a member of First Methodist Church and the Blair Eagles Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and one brother, Walter Christiansen.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sydney (Janice) Clausen, Arlington; and tow sons David Christiansen, Sterling, Colorado, and Brian Christiansen, Neligh, Nebraska. Nine grandchildren, Sonia, Kevin, Amy, Clete, Renee, Melissa, and Tami Christiansen and Clint and Troy Clausen.; two sisters, Mrs. Trina Allison, Tekamah and Mrs. Marie Desler, Omaha; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Christiansen, Kennard, also survive him.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Brechbill, Howard Cook, Mervyn Gottsch, William Harper, Elvin Hoier, Norman Misfeldt and Marvin Heise.

Clare Cowing was organist. Melvin Misfeldt was vocalist.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for services.
