Bill D. Aronson, 80

Bill D. Aronson, 80, of Overland Park, Kan., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1734 Grant St., in Blair. Inurnment in the Blair Cemetery will be followed by a reception at the church. McGilley & Hoge, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.

Bill was born April 26, 1934, in Washington County, to Chester and Florence (McDonald) Aronson. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1951.

He entered into the United States Army in 1952. After his service with the military, he attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., where he completed his degree. He began his automotive career working with his father and brother Robert at Aronson Motor Co. He was then recruited by Oldsmobile where he worked as a district service manager until his retirement in 1987.

Bill married his wife, Barbara Mencke, on June 3, 1961. Together, they had two children: William and Judith “J.” Work would eventually bring Bill and his family to Overland Park in 1967 where many lifelong friends were made.

Bill’s hobbies included traveling, golfing, fishing and camping. He also put his considerable troubleshooting and repair skills to good use helping family, friends and neighbors. He will forever be a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, companion, mentor and friend to everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his children: Will Aronson (Sue) and “J” Hudnall (Steve); grandchildren: Kevin (Megan) and Andy Hudnall and Jake and Aubrey Aronson; great-granddaughter Audra Hudnall; siblings: Robert Aronson (Mabel), Lila Rapier, Joan Connealy, Donna Donelan (Mike); and loving companion Paula Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara Aronson.
