Merrill K. Snover, 67

Merrill K. Snover, 67, of Hooper, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Military honors will be conducted by members of American Legion Post 18 of Hooper and the VFW Winslow-Hooper Post 10535. Interment at a later date will be at the Hooper Cemetery.

Merrill K. “Kent” Snover was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Fremont to Merrill and Evelyn (Gerathewohl) Snover. He grew up at Hooper and was a 1960 graduate of Hooper High School. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year, and then farmed with his father for three years. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served from March 31, 1964, to March 30, 1967. He then attended Bear Valley School of Preaching in Colorado. He moved to Fremont, then lived at West Branch, Mich., and Blair, where he preached. He moved to Gilcrest, Colo., in 1990, and then to Windsor, Colo., where he worked as a federal meat inspector. He returned to Fremont in 1994 and preached at the Fremont Church of Christ and also continued his work as a meat inspector at several area meat packing plants.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 18 at Hooper and the VFW Winslow-Hooper Post 10535.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Bethany and Tracy Salvman of Evans, Colo., Barbra and Duke Dotson of Arlington, Texas, Brye Snover and Makala Snover, both of Scottsbluff; seven grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Loretta Snover of Fremont; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Steve Ritchey of Radford, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Stroke Foundation.
