WM. E. LUCKE SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

FORMER BUSINESS MAN DIED SUDDENLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON

William E. Lucke, well known Blair man, died suddenly Friday afternoon. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Lucke, who assits on a semi-retired basis at Lee’s Pharmacy which is operated by his son, Lee Lucke, was making a prescription delivery when he collapsed. The Blair Rescue Squad was called but he was unable to be revived.

William Eric Lucke was born at Fremont, Nebraska, October 13, 1899 and was 70 years of age at the time of his death. He was one of a large family of brothers and sisters. The family grew up in the Rogers and Schuyler vicinity west of Fremont.

He was married to Elsie Quigley on January 30, 1924 and the couple became the parents of one son, Lee Lucke, who owns and operates Lee’s Pharmacy in Blair.

About twenty years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Lucke moved to Blair to become owners and operators of the Blair Dairy. He carried on this business for a number of years. Later he was employed in the shipping department of the Kelly Ryan Manufacturing Co. of Blair. In more recent years he has assisted his son in the operation of the pharmacy.

Several years ago he was hospitalized for treatment of a heart ailment, but he made a good recovery and has carried on his work without interruption.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie and by his son, Lee. He has three brothers: Milford Lucke, of Schuyler; Leroy of Omaha; and Walter of Baltimore, Maryland. Also surviving are four sisters. They are Mrs. Hazel French of Fremont; Mrs. Lois Peters of North Bend, Nebraska; Mrs. Berniece Mentzer of Schuyler; and Mrs. Mildred Conolly of Cantril, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held this (Monday) afternoon at the First United Methodist Church at 2 o’clock P.M. The Rev. Richard Atherton will conduct the service and burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

WM. E. LUCKE BURIED MONDAY

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mr. Wm. E. Lucke, who died suddenly Friday afternoon from a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, a son Lee Lucke and three grandchildren, Lori, Jeff and Connie. Also three brothers and four sisters.

The Rev. Richard Atherton officiated at the 2 o’clock service at the First Methodist Church and burial was in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Willard Gustin, Kenneth Rhoades, Max and Bill Cochran, Myron Walker and Joe Sheilds. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Fairchild, J. Hilton Rhoades, Ralph Vinton, Ansel Toft, Scott Robeson, and Ernest Schmidt.
