SAY SHOCK OF DRINKING COLD WATER AFTER WORKING IN HOT FIELDS CAUSED DEATH OF FORMER FT. CALHOUN STUDENT; RITES TO BE FRIDAY

The effects of drinking too much cold water after working in hot fields during the 90-degree weather Tuesday caused the death of Arno Lorenzen, aged 21, farm youth residing west of Fort Calhoun. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Lorenzen, prominent farmers in that vicinity.

ARNO LORENZEN, 21, DIES SUDDENLY AT HOME NEAR CALHOUN

At Work in Field in Forenoon. Passes Away at Mid Afternoon

Arno Lorenzen, 21 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lorenzen, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the home of his parents in the Fort Calhoun neighborhood. Arno had not been in the best of health for some time, but was able to do his work about the farm. He cultivated corn all Tuesday morning, but feeling indisposed, did not go to the field in the afternoon.

His mother persuaded him to go to bed which he did. A short time after this she heard a commotion in his room, and upon investigation, found that he was making the death struggle. Apparently the immediate cause of his death was a heart attack.

The young man was a native of this county, and after finishing the home school, attended the Fort Calhoun High school where he received his diploma. While in attendance there he was a star baseball player.

The father, Henry Lorenzen, at the time the death occurred was in attendance at the funeral of his old friend, Gottlieb Stork, and the shock came as a terrible blow to him. Funeral services will be held from the home on Friday afternoon at 1:15 and at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church in Fort Calhoun with Rev. T. J. Reese of the Blair Baptist church officiating.
