Leroy Snyder

Funeral services for 90 year old Leroy Snyder were held on Saturday, February 15th, 1986 at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Mr. Snyder died on February 13th, 1986, at the Crowell Home in Blair.

Leroy Snyder was born on September 19, 1896 in Woodbine, Iowa. He was married to Ada Mae Patton on February 2, 1921. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, Harry Snyder of Fremont, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Snyder first worked for the Arndt Hardware in Blair. Later the Arndt-Snyder Motor Company was formed. In 1926, Mr. Snyder became the Sinclair dealer in Blair and went on to organize the Nebraska-Iowa Oil Company in the early 1930’s. He later sold that business to Hopple and Johnson.

In 1947, Mr. Snyder formed the Nebraska-Iowa Supply Company and in 1955 went back into the petroleum business. In 1959, he offered stock to the employees. In about 1970, the ownership of the business was shared with Frank Drbal, Kermit Andrews, Bert Faltys and Roy I. Anderson. The business is now owned by Kermit Andrews and Tom Lippincott.

Mr. Snyder was a charter member of the Blair Rotary Club, was instrumental in the location and construction of the Blair bridge, was a director on the Highway 30 Association and was a past officer in the Petroleum Marketers Association.

Pallbearers included: Kermit Andrews, Roy I. Anderson, Tom Lippincott, Waine Allen, Frank Drbal and John Sutherland.

Dr. Howard Bailey officiated with Dave Collins the organist. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial at Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Iowa.
