Two killed In Friday Night Head-On-Crash

Two persons died as a result of a two vehicle head-on crash Friday night south of Blair on Highway 133. The two victims and Mary Feiling 37, of Tekamah and Ronald Knowles, 41 of Ralston.

The Blair Rescue Squad was called to the scene after the accident was turned in by a CBer traveling on Highway 133. The accident took place approximately 3 miles south of Blair on 133 near the Kennard cut-off road.

Preliminary investigation, by the Washington County Sheriff’s office indicated that the Feiling car was apparently traveling north and the Knowles auto was traveling south. The accident appeared to have taken place in the west lane with the two vehicles hitting nearly head-on. The road, at this point, is flat and straight with good visibility.

The impact of the accident was so great that the floor boards in both cars were buckled back against the front seats. Both steering columns were bent up into the windshields.

When the Blair Rescue Squad arrived at the scene Mr. Knowles was pronounced dead. The Tekamah lady reportedly died enroute to the Blair Hospital.
