Alysia Marie Baertschi, 3 1/2

Funeral Services for Alysia Marie Baertschi, 3 ½ year old daughter of Paul and Sally (Poulson) Baertschi, 11551 Xavis Circle, NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota, were held Saturday, August 12, 1989 at the Anoka Covenant Church, Anoka, Minnesota. Rev. Ronald Mancini officiated. Burial was in Champlin, Minnesota Cemetery.

Alysia was born November 12, 1985, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of six months, doctors diagnosed her as having Krabbe Disease (globoid cell leukodystrophy). She had a bone marrow transplant when she was 6 months old with her four-year old brother, Alan, as the donor.

She spent nearly a year in the hospital. Since then she has been cared for at home with nursing service around the clock.

On July 18th, she was hospitalized at the St. Paul Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota with an interstitial pneumonia. During the hospitalization the illness was complicated by a bacterial imposed pneumonia. She died August 8, 1989.

She was baptized at Vision of Glory Lutheran Church as an infant.

Other survivors besides her parents and brother are her grandparents, Wanda Poulson of Blair, Rev. and Mrs. Walter Baertschi, New Hope, Minnesota and her great grandmother Mildred Ridley, Springvale, Maine.

Preceding her in death was her grandfather, Russell Poulson.

Thurston Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka was in charge of arrangements.
