LeRoy S. Barton, 93

Former Arlington resident LeRoy S. Barton, 93, of Fremont, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating.

There is no public visitation. The American flag will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 of Arlington. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery at a later date.

LeRoy S. Barton was born Dec. 4, 1909, in Blair to William and Frances (Mattson) Barton. He farmed near Arlington from 1927 until 1942.

He served in the United States Army in New Guinea during World War II, from July 25, 1942 until Oct. 23, 1945. After the war, he returned to the Arlington area. He farmed until 1968, when he moved into Arlington. He then worked for Consolidated Blenders and Marshall Nursery, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of V. F. W. Post No. 8332 of Arlington.

Mr. Barton is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Barton, and a sister, Emma Bruce.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church or Arlington V.F.W.
