#1-23 Jan., 1907 - Blair Courier - Vinson Bateham

Vinson Bateman, father of George Bateham, the tinner at the Arndt hardware, died suddenly of heart failure at about four o’clock yesterday afternoon. He and his son’s wife stepped into Thos. Chadwick’s, who live nearby, for a short visit and while sitting there talking Mr. Bateham fell from his chair dead. He was 68 years of age the 16th of last December and had been here with his son since last September. His wife died at Ashland, Nebr. in 1890. The funeral will be held at the house tomorrow afternoon.

#2-23 Jan., 1907 - The Pilot - Vincent Bateman

Tuesday afternoon at four o’clock Mr. Vincent Bateham dropped dead at the Tom Chadwick home. About 3:30 he and his son’s wife had walked down there and a few minutes after entering the house he dropped dead without giving the least sign of any trouble. He came here some six months ago and was living with his son. He leaves a son in Lincoln and a son here as the immediate members of the family, and a brother over in Iowa. He was born in 1838. Funeral will be held in Blair. #3-The Courier 30 January 1907 The funeral services of Vinson (Vincent?) Bateham were held at 3 o’clock last Thursday afternoon at the home of his son, George Rev. F. G. Hamm officiating.

Note: The Vig Files at the Danish American Archives has his name recorded as Vincent Bateman and that he is buried in the Blair Cemetery in Block B8 Lot 9 Space 2
