Dorothy Bateman, 89

Dorothy Bateman, 89, of Blair, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Carter House in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 United Methodist Church, a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Dorothy Bateman was born March 2, 1914, in Blair to Rudolph and Mellie (Ryan) Mencke. She graduated from a Blair High School.

She was married to James T. Bateman. The couple owned and operated the Blair House Motel and Mrs. Bateman later worked at the Washington County Courthouse as the Assistant County clerk.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church P.E.O. and was a charter and active member of the Washington County Republican Women.

She is survived by a sister, Marguerite Donahue of Grand Rapids, Mich; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1970; a sister, Gretchen Long, and two brothers, Raymond and James Bateman.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
