Heart Attack Kills V. Bauer

Blair, Neb. — Virginia Bauer, Washington County Treasurer for 40 years, died Saturday at her home in Blair.

Mrs. Bauer, 64, suffered a heart attack in her sleep, said Dr. Richard D. Gentry.

In 1984, Mrs. Bauer was honored for her service as county treasurer by the Nebraska Association of County Treasurers and the National Association of County Officials.

Survivors include husband Ralph; sons Roger Bauer of Blair and Ron Sylvis of Panama City, Fla.; daughters Barbara Lane of Roswell, Ga., and Connie Sylvis of Omaha; and brothers J.H. Campbell of North Bend, Ore., and George Campbell of Blair.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church.

Washington County Treasurer dies suddenly at her home

Services for Washington County Treasurer Virginia Bauer are Tuesday, February 21, 1989 at the First United Methodist Church.

Virginia died at her residence on Saturday, February 18, 1989, from an apparent heart attack. She was 64 years of age at the time of her death.

Virginia was born in Blair, Nebraska on April 27, 1924 to James E. and Blanche Hoover Campbell. She graduated from Blair High School and received her teacher’s certificate from Dana College.

She worked for the county treasurer while attending Dana College. In 1962, she became deputy county treasurer and served in this capacity until 1971 at which time she became the county treasurer.

She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter IF and was a volunteer for the Reach to Recovery Cancer Society for over 14 years.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Ralph; two children, Ron Sylvis of Panama City, Florida and Connie Sylvis and her son, Lance, of Omaha, Nebraska; two stepchildren and their spouses, Rodger and Charlotte Bauer of Blair and their daughter Mia; and Barbara and William Lane, their son Chauncey and their daughter Abigail of Roswell, Georgia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Harriett Campbell of Blair and J.H. “Junior” and Elaine Campbell of North Bend, Oregon.

Graveside services in the Blair Cemetery are being conducted by Dr. Howard Bailey.

Campbell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
