MRS. U. E. BAXTER SUCCUMBS AT FARM

BLAIR RESIDENT, 76, HAD RESIDED ON SAME FARM SINCE MARRIAGE

Ill since suffering a stroke of paralysis early in 1934, Mrs. U. E. Baxter, 76, died Monday noon at the Baxter farm home northwest of Blair, where she had resided since her marriage 58 years ago.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Rose Hill Methodist Church, of which she had been a member for many years. Officiating will be the Rev. A. W. Clarke, pastor of the Herman Methodist Church. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. There was a brief service at the house at 1 p.m.

As Julia Johnson, Mrs. Baxter was born in Wisconsin April 6, 1862. She was married to U. E. Baxter April 8, 1880, and immediately following their marriage they moved to the farm on which they have since resided.

Surviving Mrs. Baxter are her husband and three children, Roy of Blair, Ira, who lives on the home farm, and Pearl, of Los Angeles. Other immediate survivors include three brothers, Will Johnson of Dayton, Washington, Bert Johnson of Moscow, Idaho, and John Johnson of Kendrick, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Alice Fountain of Clarkston, Washington and six grandchildren.

#2-22 Sept., 1938 Enterprise (Photo) Mrs. U. E. Baxter passed from this life on last Monday noon, September 19, at the age of 76 years. As Julia Johnson she was born 14 Wisconsin on April 6, 1862 and when a child the family moved to Iowa and later to Newcastle, Nebraska. On April 8, 1880 she was married to U. E. Baxter, the license to wed being issued from this county. The spring following their marriage they moved to the farm northwest of Blair where they have since resided. Three children besides the grief stricken husband survive. They are Leroy and Ira of this county and Mrs. Pearl Siegel of Los Angeles, California. Besides the immediate family she leaves three brothers, William of Dayton, Washington; John of Kendrick, Idaho and Albert of Moscow, Idaho and one sister, Mrs. Alice Fountain of Clarkston, Washington. Funeral services are being held this Thursday, afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the Rose Hill church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Rose Hill cemetery with Rev. A. W.
