Mrs. Baxter Is Buried At Rose Hill

Mrs. Margaret Caroline Baxter died August 19th in Omaha at the age of 84. She was born January 28th, 1888 to Mr. and Mrs. Jay David Johns at Craig. She was one of nine children.

Most of her life was spent in the Blair vicinity where she graduated from high school and attended Dana College and the Fremont Normal School. She taught in the rural schools for several years and was an active church member while she lived in Blair.

On June 16, 1920 she was united in marriage with Leroy F. Baxter. Five children were born to this union. They are William E. of North Bend, Mrs. Melvin Hewell (Iris) of Papillion, Mrs. Vern Tuttle (Betty) of Blair, Mrs. Russell Tuveson (Marjorie) and Mrs. Maxine Kindler of Wauwatesa, Wis.

She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Dorothy E. Baxter of New York and 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Fred Grabe (Edith) of Omaha; and brothers, Perry H. Johns of DeWitt, Arthur Johns of Denver and Ralph Johns of Port Orchard, Wash.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 25, 1964.

Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Papillion with the Rev. Armin Vogt officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Blair.

Pallbearers were Edward Grabe, Gregg Harrold, David Wilson, Gifford French, LaVerne Schmidt and the Rev. Marlon Loftis.
