MR. AND MRS. FRED OLSON BURIED AT DOUBLE FUNERAL

Double funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church in Blair for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson, long time residents of Washington County who passed away at the Blair hospital on April 1st and April 4th, following serious illnesses. Mrs. Olson died Thursday, April 1st after being in failing health for many years.

Mrs. Olson had been born in Arvike, Sweden on April 22, 1867 and was christened Christine Erickson. She was 87 at the time of her death. She spent her girlhood days in Sweden, coming to America and directly to Washington County when seventeen years of age. Prior to her coming to America, she had been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in her native country.

On March 16, 1898, she was united in marriage to Fred Olson at Council Bluffs, Iowa. She resided, with her husband, on the family farm in the Pleasant View school district until the fall of 1943 when they retired and moved to Blair.

Fred Olson passed away Sunday, April 4th, also at the Blair hospital. He, too, had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Olson was born at Walla Walla, Washington, December 13, 1870 and moved to Knox County when he was a small boy. He was 84 years of age at his death.

After living in Knox County for a time, he moved to a farm in the Rose Hill district.

In 1891 he was married to Edith Petersen and the couple lived in Omaha for a time. To this union, one daughter, Mabel, was born. She passed away in 1948.

Edith Olson passed away and shortly after that, Mr. Olson moved back to his farm in Washington County.

Later, on March 16, 1898, he was married to Miss Christine Erickson and they moved to a farm in the Glendale school district and later to what has become known as the Olson home farm in the Pleasant View district. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1948, at which time they were enjoying good health.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson leave to mourn their passing, a daughter, Mrs. Glen McDonald (Helen) of Omaha and four sons. The sons are Edwin of Craig; Clarence of Tekamah; Theodore and Clifford of Blair. There are also thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives in this vicinity.

The Rev. H. C. Jorgensen was in charge of funeral services and the Campbell Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.

DOUBLE RITES CONDUCTED FOR OLSONS

MR. AND MRS. FRED OLSON, 83 AND 86, BURIED AFTER LUTHERAN RITES

Residents of Washington County since the early 1880s, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson of 59 North First St. in Blair died at Blair Hospital over the week-end, within three days of each other.

Mrs. Olson, 86, died last Thursday after a long illness. Her husband, age 83, brought to Blair Hospital the same day after confinement to an Omaha hospital, died early Sunday evening as rites were being arranged for his wife.

As the result of his death, plans were changed and a double funeral service was held at First Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiated. The Campbell Mortuary had charge of burial in Blair Cemetery.

WED FOR 56 YEARS

Mr. Olson was born at Walla Walla, Wash., Dec. 13, 1870, and moved to Knox County, Nebr. with his parents as a small boy and later to a farm in the Rose Hill district. In 1891 he and Edith Petersen were married and they resided in Omaha. To them was born a daughter, Mabel, who died in 1948. His wife died within a few years and Mr. Olson moved to his farm in Washington County. He and Christine Erickson were married Mar. 16, 1898, and moved to a farm in the Glendale school district and later to their own farm in the Pleasant View district. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1948 and had been married 56 years at the time of their deaths.

Mrs. Olson, as Christine Erickson, was born at Arvika, Sweden, Apr. 22, 1867 and came to America and Washington County at the age of 17. She had been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in her native country. She and Mr. Olson were married at Council Bluffs in 1898.

Surviving Mr. and Mrs. Olson are four sons, Edwin Olson of Craig; Clarence Olson of Tekamah; Theodore and Clifford Olson of Blair; and a daughter, Mrs. Glen McDonald (Helen) of Omaha. There are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
