Funeral services were Tuesday, March 20 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont for Gifford Nielsen, 82 of Fremont who died March 18, 1990 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Rev. Mark Grorud officiated. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Gifford Nielsen was born November 24, 1907 in Blair. He received his education in Blair and attended Dana College.

He farmed in the Blair-Fort Calhoun area until he moved to Fremont in 1966. He then worked for a time at Diers Corporation.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fremont, the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club and the Isaac Walton League.

He married Marie Sierk April 14, 1937 in Blair. She preceded him in death in July, 1979.

He is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Richard) Hansen of Wahoo; Betty (Mrs. Ron) Mlejnek of Hastings; three sons and daughters-in-law, James of Blair; Duane and Pat of Amaliza, Texas; and Roger and Marjorie of Bennington; 15 grandchildren; six great-grand-children; one brother, Carl of Eugene, Oregon; and a sister, Ella (Mrs. Ivan) Hovendick of Fremont.

Ludvigson Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
